WoW-Pro Leveling Addon - A new start

It looks like we won't be able to use TourGuide as a base for our leveling addon in the near future. To find out why, visit this thread: http://www.wow-pro.com/node/2850

But this might actually be good news, now is actually a great time to create a new addon, specifically for wow-pro, and with all the improvements we would like to implement.

We were already going to re-write the whole guides from 1 to 60 for Cataclysm anyway, with the arrival of Cataclysm and the revamp of all the old Azeroth zones, so the timing could not be better on this.

We've already got a few wow-pro members willing to help on this new project, but since this is a huge project, we'll take all the help we can get.

In any case, we need everyone's input for our new leveling addon.

What features would you like to see in the new addon version?
What would you like to see changed compared to the old version?

Discuss it here, your opinion matters.

As someone said on the wow-pro forums:

    -Support for Heirlooms
This could be implemented by checking that you don't do quest more than, say, 3-4 levels below your current level. That will cause issues with chains and quests that rely on each other though (such quests will need to be flagged somehow).

I think I will register on wow-pro now since I think all this is very interesting :)

Great to have you back Jame!

Is interest in your guides falling, or does it just take people time to come back after your break (since no comments have come).

Anyways, I tried the Zul'Drak guide and so far, apart for a couple of spelling mistakes, everything was spot on. So I have no fear for the future quality even tho you won't be writing them.

As for your own addon (death to Zygor btw, seriously), I hope it will be as much of a direct translation of your written guides to an ingame format as possible, with as few extra addons needed as possible. Tomtom is probably a must but heavy addons like lightheaded is sorta "meh" for me. Maybe a window that shows a paragraph at a time, which automaticly scroll down as you complete the steps (with a click to continue option for info text like tourguide had). Basicly I like the tourguide way better than the zygor way (less is more etc).

Hey Tarciryan! Long time no see ;)

Actually it seems that interest in my guides has never dropped, it's been a while since I added new content, however the interest is still there, about 80 comments were made just this week-end on the wow-pro leveling addon discussion thread.

I agree with you about trying to keep the addon as light as possible, which is why we most likely won't be integrating lightheaded.

Your input is most welcome, don't hesitate to stop by on wow-pro and to give your opinion about what you think should and should not be in our addon.

    Hello James and comunity!

First of all, congratulalions on your guides they are awsome.

Since blizzard created the instance searching group i notest that leveling doing quests and do some instances have been a good mix, not for only the xp and the instance quests but also its a way to get good gear upgrades. So i believe a optimized quest/instance guide (in an addon) would be the fastest way to leveling. Anyway its just a tought, cheers for all the good work and hope you and the people who helps stay in WOW world in the future.
    Thanks
